Kenneth Myers Centre
Built in 1934, the Kenneth Myers Centre was originally known as the 1YA Building and housed the radio station of the same name, one of the first licenced radio stations in the country. During the ‘60s it was used for TV broadcasting and later as a recording studio until the 2000s when the University of Auckland bought the building for its teaching facilities of creative and performing arts.
In 2023 Lime Works become part of a two-year project to repair the building’s facades, ornamental elements, and bronze windows. This has been a very challenging project that required the extensive involvement of our expert heritage builders and managerial team.
Lime Works has been entrusted with:
Removing mortar and re-pointing on all building’s elevations.
Repainting parapets and lower levels.
Cleaning and sealing windows.
Removing, repairing, painting and reinstalling downpipes.
Plaster repairs.
Concrete repairs.
